I am so sorry for the late posting... but I have been in Washington, D.C. this since Saturday! I had the best of intentions of writing a blog post when I returned home Tuesday night, but in all honesty, my bed seemed much more inviting! :)
I will blog more about my trip in the future, but for now I wanted to share what really encouraged my faith this week. It seems odd to me to say this, but my favorite part of my trip to Washington, D.C. was my trip to the Holocaust Museum.
In the middle of something so heart wrenching, I heard a survivor share a memory that really changed my perspective. The man recalled that when he saw another man in the concentration camp worshipping and praising God, he became irate. "Look at where we are! How can you praise God?" he cried out. The other gently replied, "I am thanking him for not making me like our captors."
Wow. I was instantly humbled. I am not sure under the same circumstances that I would have been able to keep the same perspective. It brought me to instant tears. It also reminded me of one of my favorite books... The Hiding Place by Corrie TenBoom. If you haven't read it yet, you simply must! :)
